Fire Femcee: Sa-Roc Atlanta, Ga.

This is the reason I'm loving my Facebook community these days. All I have to do is go to my newsfeed, see what someone else is listening to,then post it to the BOOMIXSYSTEM blog. Earlier this morning was especially great because I stumbled upon Sa Roc. She's a FEMCEE coming out of Atlanta and she's dropping hot coals on fire with science. I wish there were more femcees like her around. On with skill beauty and an extra helping of "knowledge fi di people dem". Check her out in these three videos. Saw her open up for the Cold Crush Brothers a few months ago in ATL. SHe definitely made an impact on me and many people who had never heard her before.

Blown Cover: Andy Allo - Lost in the World Music discovery is always a victory when you find something you didn't expect to find. Her name is Andy Allo. There is no way I would have found her if I wasn't blindly scouring the internet looking for newness. I came across a song named 5 O'Clock Suff by Suff Daddy featuring Miles Bonny. Miles Bonny lead to Monkey Robot which led me to Andy Allo and POW! She sings a stripped down and sparse remake of "Lost In The World" by Kanye West. It sounds pretty cool. She's no Jill Scott but she does reperesent what she set out to do. This is the latest in a modest list of genre crossing hip hop covers, probably the most famous of which being Dynamite Hack's cover of the "Boys In The Hood".
